Job DescriptionPaint Inspector - NACE 1 or 2The Paint Inspector is responsible for the blast & paint quality, inspections and recording of blast and paint data in our structural steel and plate fabrication facilities. The role involves overseeing the performance and development of blast and paint staff, ensuring all blasting and painting meets the required quality standards and testing requirements and that traceability documentation is up to date for each project.Performing all necessary blast and paint inspections in compliance with Australian Standards, Client specifications and product requirements. Provide guidance, training and supervision of the blast & paint trade staff to ensure timely project deliveries, effective performance/workmanship and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Objectives: Ensures adherence to the Company's Quality Policy, Manual and Quality Procedures related to welding and manufacturingEnsures adherence to Code requirements and client specificationsEnsures blast & paint records are up to dateUnderstand and implement quality control techniquesSupport the Supervisor in planning and execution of designated work-tasksManage and report on blast and paint consumables stock levelsMonitor and raise concerns of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) issues within the workplace.Mentor and develop skills of blast & paint trade staff.Key Responsibilities: Provide support and mentorship to the blast & paint staff. Develop training program to upskill employees within the blast and paint teamsMonitoring of blast and paint performances, ensure that the blast & paint staff is following the correct paint system and consumables. Periodically check blast and paint equipment for cleanliness and functioningRecord keeping of all blast and paint activities on the shopfloor as per project code requirements, keeping the QC database (Simweb) up to date with painter ID's and DFT measurements.Maintain blast and paint reports for MDR requirementsVisual and DFT Inspection (VI) of each paint coat in line with production schedules and project workflow/needsLiaise with Afternoon shift supervisor and/or paint inspector (shift handover) when necessaryManage and control all activities for blast and paint inspections.Always provide positive motivation to all team members within the labour force to ensure an ongoing positive work environment.Actioning efforts to minimize waste and act according to our Environment and Sustainability policy.Assisting the QC/QA team with documentation, when necessaryQualificationsNACE level 1, preferably level 2Demonstrated history of continual professional development.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a paint workshop environment plus 3 years paint inspector experience.Proven knowledge and experience with AS Code requirements for blasting and paintingProven knowledge of all blast and paint processes (steel grit, garnet, airless, pressure pot)Affiliation with blast and paint inspection techniques, codes and proceduresGood communication skills and good organizational skills.Able to work as part of and lead a team under pressure.Personal drive, initiative and resourcefulness.Intermediate computer literacy including Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)Additional InformationWhat do you get in return?
