About the team The Child Health and Development (CHAD) team provide a multidisciplinary allied health service for children and young people primarily aged 0-12 years. It is comprised of a dynamic, collaborative and friendly team of occupational therapists, speech pathologists, a play therapist, and a child and family engagement practitioner. Children are supported by several other services within BCH, including dental, continence, nutrition and dietetics, podiatry, physiotherapy, and mental health professionals/Headspace.
About the role The Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Early Career will work within the Child Youth and Families directorate and will be required to provide an efficient, high-quality service to children from across the Bellarine region. You will function as a member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, working closely with team members from the CHAD team to promote an integrated and holistic service, including:
Provide high quality clinical occupational therapy service to paediatric clients. Work within a multidisciplinary team. Provide assessment, therapy via individual sessions or groups programs as appropriate. Practice with child and family centred, strength-based framework and incorporate early childhood early intervention principles. You will be allocated a Community Health funded caseload with children aged from 0-6 years presenting with mild-moderate developmental delays, or communication difficulties. Contribute to the occupational therapy team and child health and development service. To be successful you will require: Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, and registration with AHPRA. Clinical skills in occupational therapy incorporating knowledge of childhood development, evidence-based practice, assessment tools and therapy approaches. Passion in working with children and families. Demonstrated capacity to practice in a collaborative, strength based, family and child centred model. High level and effective interpersonal skills, including teamwork, leadership, communication, and the ability to adapt and be flexible. Strong organisational and time management skills, efficient and flexible work practices including the ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines, prioritise, and respond to change. Be willing to learn and be committed to providing excellent care through commitment to professional development by maintaining, applying, and sharing clinical knowledge.
