We are seeking a Packaging Specialist to manage execution of packaging sustainability related projects and initiatives in line with corporate packaging strategy and policies and across both internal and external stakeholders.
A day in the life… Reporting to the Head of Packaging, key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Project manage and support packaging projects & trials with focus on line performance, cost efficiency, on time delivery and product quality.Provide packaging input to Application Group teams - proposing and evaluating best packaging alternatives for new products and improvements to existing products.Conduct value analysis; identify and recommend improvements in efficiency, cost improvements and waste reduction opportunities.Initiate / participate in DMAIC exercises. Support factories in identifying unplanned stoppage reduction opportunities for packaging materials and provide training on TPM methodology related to packaging processes.Cascade best principles in packaging development and technology to ensure effective implementation of sustainable packaging materials into factory operations.Work with relevant industry and government stakeholders to advocate and support development aligned with packaging sustainability strategy.Develop and monitor KPIs across all Business Units. Manage and complete internal/external packaging sustainability progress reports, meeting group goals and commitments.Manage packaging and promotional items related food safety and compliance directives.Manage database of packaging materials to the new requirements of external packaging reporting structure and auditing.Support Corporate Procurement in the selection, assessment and development of new suppliers/converters.Support development of competencies of packaging technologists & disseminate packaging best practices and knowledge.What will make you successful Possess strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills essential for success in this position.Graduate in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or equivalent (Materials Science, Printing).Broad experience in packaging development and project management in FMCG industry.Proven track record of successfully leading and developing cross-functional teams.Clear and effective communication and presentation skills are essential.Experience in stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.The right person must be proactive, thorough, and detailed, with a high level of relationship building.You are a problem solver, proactive and strong in implementing sustainable solutions to address business needs and/or issues.Applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment checks, including but not limited to health checks, prior to appointment to this role.
