Details of the offer

ClientOur client is an executive agency of the Australian Government responsible for providing weather services to Australia and surrounding areas.RoleThe Project is currently in its phase 3, a major component of the assistance provided by Australia to enable 15 partner Pacific Island countries and territories adapt to, and mitigate, the impacts of climate variability and change.RequirementsOur client is seeking an experienced full-stack developer to join the project team as a Pacific Senior Full-Stack Developer. The role will develop two key pieces of infrastructure that deliver climate data and products for users in the Pacific. This includes developing a new Pacific Climate Change Data Portal (to replace the existing portal that has been in service since 2009) and a new climate monitoring and prediction website associated with gridded historical data associated with MSWEP and ERA5 as well as the Australian ACCESS-S prediction model (also to replace an existing website that has been in service since 2020). The former is not expected to receive frequent data updates (e.g. at most several times a year) while the latter will require an interactive display with multiple data sources updating multiple times per week. This role will involve front-end web development that adheres to the latest web standards and that visualises gridded and point data in user-friendly interfaces tailored toward bandwidth-limited environments (as many users may not have access to high-speed internet).
