In 2009, the Colman Foundation approached the Victorian Government to become directly involved in the education of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including high migrant and refugee groups. Doveton College has become a model for Our Place, an organisation that supports community-based, inclusive educational models across 10 sites in Victoria.
The College supports all members of the Doveton Community, providing high-quality teaching and learning programs for children aged 0-15 and additional learning opportunities for parents and community members.
With approximately 100 children in the Early Learning Centre, over 600 students in Foundation to Year 9, and many community participants, Doveton College offers a range of educational and allied health support services.

Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high impact teaching strategies.
SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching.
SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills with experience in maintaining collaborative relationships.
SC5: Behaviours consistent with Department values and engagement in professional learning.
SC6: Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the capacity to cater for students with diverse educational needs.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection to improve their skills.
Range 2 classroom teachers assist in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to school policies and priorities.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills with structured support, teaching various students/classes, and participating in school policy development.
ResponsibilitiesThe role may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to curriculum development and evaluation;Undertaking other teaching-related and organizational duties;Participating in parent/teacher meetings and staff activities;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
