We seek a People and Culture Advisor who will report to the Office of the CEO.
The People & Culture (P&C) Advisor is responsible for providing strategic and comprehensive human resources (HR) counsel to Alice Springs Town Council (Council) and its leadership teams.
This pivotal role is essential in optimising P&C service delivery across the organisation.

The P&C Advisor will collaborate closely with the Manager People & Culture to develop and implement innovative and best practice workforce strategies, policies, processes, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Provide expert and considered advice on diverse human resource management activities, policies, practices and key processes and related issues to managers and team members across Council.
Manage complex and sensitive matters including performance issues and grievances.
Prepare high-level correspondence, documentation ensuring compliance with Council policies, procedures and delegations.
Participate and lead P&C projects to review, develop and implement policies, procedures, standards, guides and processes to support effective, efficient and best practice P&C service delivery.
Research, collate and analyse information from a variety of sources to prepare correspondence and provide high quality, effective and timely P&C responses and advice.
Assist in the evaluation of current P&C policy, process and system capabilities, initiatives and improvement strategies using consultative change management processes.
Build and maintain key relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
Work closely with team members to exchange information, resolve issues, provide leadership, mentoring, support and training to foster a collaborative, effective workplace culture.
Perform other duties within capabilities and/or consistent with the level of this position as required.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in workforce management, Human Resource Management or equivalent relevant experience.
Current Northern Territory driver's license.
Selection Criteria
Essential
Demonstrated experience in the delivery and management of contemporary human resource projects and services and/or in a HR/P&C generalist role in a medium to large organisation.
Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience with contemporary human resource practices with the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and legislative requirements as they relate to employment matters.
Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to use initiative, investigate issues, collect and analyse data and to make recommendations on solutions.
Professionally communicates complex information in a clear manner for the target audience.
Demonstrated planning, problem solving and organisational skills, including effective management of multiple high priority tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
Displays a strong work ethic and resilience.
High level customer service, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships at all levels and across diverse cultures to positively influence human resource practices.
Highly developed computer skills, including proficiency using the MS Office suite and experience with online information systems.
Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively supervise, guide, train and mentor team members.
Demonstrated work ethic and attitude that emulates ASTC values of leadership, collaboration, trust, respect, authenticity, inclusion, commitment and determination.
