About the roleThe Mining Manager – Open Cut plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and sustainable operation of open-cut mining activities at Tritton Operations.
This role is central to driving operational excellence, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, and effectively managing contractor relationships and deliverables to achieve operational goals.
A key focus will be the effective setup and operations of the Murrawombie Open Pit project, as well as contributing to the planning requirements for long-term open pit projects at Tritton Operations.
Your Key Accountabilities in this unique and newly created role will include: As the appointed statutory NSW Quarry Manager for site open cut operations you will create, implement, and oversee a compliance framework to ensure effective outcomes in accordance with applicable legislation.You will lead and promote site safety culture and be able to demonstrate strong and proactive safety leadership to the direct team and contractors aligned with the overall Tritton Safety Health Management System.The continuous maintenance of safety standards and the management of critical risks through safety inspections and participation in safety meetings.Driving the consistent delivery of short, medium, and long term production targets and contribute to broader company objectives specific to open cut operations and project planning.Leadership and empowerment of the open cut mining team – you will promote engagement and morale amongst all employees, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, excellence and mutual respect.Identify potential risks and challenges within operations and the broader business, ensuring effective mitigation strategies to protect our people, assets, and interests.Develop and enforce contractor management plans, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational guidelines.Monitor contractor performance through regular audits and assessments, addressing any issues promptly to maintain high standards of work.Support the General Manager in the development and implementation of long-term strategic planning.Partner with site leadership team to ensure optimal compliance requirements to the requirements of the Site Health Safety Management System (SHMS) and relevant legislation.Assist in building and sustaining a high-performing culture that values performance and behaviour aligned to the achievement of strategic objectives and company values.Promote continuous improvement more broadly across the business, as and when identified.About You You will bring a love of everything from mining operations to human resources as well as a genuine passion to make a difference in an exciting time for our Tritton Operation!
Statutory Quarry Manager certificate of competence NSW or mutual recognition is required, Mining Engineering Managers (optional).Proven Project Management skills for effective delivery of projects.Working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.Operational experience ideally gained in a dynamic environment with experience in hard rock open-cut mining required (underground experience optional).Exceptional communication skills including interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, verbal and written.What we offer 8:6 OR 5:2/4:3 roster – FIFO, DIDO or residential.Two year fixed contract with potential for longer.Working direct for the Mine Owner/Operator.The Operation Tritton Copper Operations is a long life copper operation located near the towns of Nyngan and Cobar in central New South Wales that commenced production in 2005. One hundred percent owned and operated by Aeris Resources, Tritton forms the cornerstone of Aeris copper production.
