The organisation is highly respected in the Mackay region and well recognised for continuously expanding services and support to meet the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the community.Our strategic intent is for growth and sustainability while focusing on our core business to enable people to achieve stability and independence through the provision of tailored housing and support services.Position PurposeAs an Outreach Worker at CASA, you will be at the forefront of our mission to connect with and support individuals experiencing homelessness.
This role requires compassion, resilience, and a proactive approach to engage with marginalized populations and connect them with the resources they need.
This role is part of a new out-of-hours service, with a portion of the hours required for the role falling outside of CASA office hours.Key Responsibilities:Conduct regular street outreach to identify and engage with individuals experiencing homelessnessBuild trusting relationships and assess immediate needs for shelter, food, and other essential servicesClient AdvocacyAdvocate for clients in accessing available support services, including healthcare, mental health resources, housing and social assistance programsAssist clients in navigating social systems and overcoming barriers to accessing servicesResource ConnectionCollaborate with internal and external partners to ensure clients have access to relevant resources and programsProvide information on housing options, employment services, and other support available within the communityCase ManagementMaintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting interactions and progress, and providing reports as requiredWork collaboratively with case management teams to develop and implement individualized support plansAssist clients with applications, including but not limited to, applications to apply for ID, Centrelink and housingCommunity EngagementRepresent CASA in the community, participating in outreach events and building relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community membersMandatory Requirements:Current Class C Drivers LicenseBlue Card Qld (Clearance to work with children)NDIS Workers Screening Clearance CardDesired Requirements:Minimum 3 years' experience within the community services sectorAbility to work unsupervised, and safely, outside of CASA office hoursDemonstrated strong analytical and case management skills relating to assessment, intake, case planning, case reviews, co-service delivery and critical incident responsesDemonstrated ability to ensure self-compliance with organisational and funded bodies regulations, policies and proceduresExcellent verbal and written communication skills including the capacity to use Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel and Outlook) and/or ability to learn and/or navigate the organisation's databases and funding bodies requirementsBenefits Available:A supportive team environment and opportunity for professional developmentWork hours:8:00am - 4:30pm Monday & Tuesday8:30am - 4:30pm Friday7:00am - 12:00pm Saturday & SundayIf you are interested in the opportunity to be part of an organization that provides housing and support to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, please apply through SEEK.Applications close on 20th November 2024.#J-18808-Ljbffr
