Community Accommodation and Support Agency Inc (CASA) was established in 1983 as a Homelessness service. The organisation is highly respected in the Mackay region and well recognised for continuously expanding services and support to meet the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the community.
Our strategic intent is for growth and sustainability while focusing on our core business to enable people to achieve stability and independence through the provision of tailored housing and support services.
Position Purpose
As an Outreach Worker at CASA, you will be at the forefront of our mission to connect with and support individuals experiencing homelessness. This role requires compassion, resilience, and a proactive approach to engage with marginalized populations and connect them with the resources they need. This role is part of a new out-of-hours service, with a portion of the hours required for the role falling outside of CASA office hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular street outreach to identify and engage with individuals experiencing homelessness
Build trusting relationships and assess immediate needs for shelter, food, and other essential services
Client Advocacy
Advocate for clients in accessing available support services, including healthcare, mental health resources, housing and social assistance programs
Assist clients in navigating social systems and overcoming barriers to accessing services
Resource Connection
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure clients have access to relevant resources and programs
Provide information on housing options, employment services, and other support available within the community
Case Management
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting interactions and progress, and providing reports as required
Work collaboratively with case management teams to develop and implement individualized support plans
Assist clients with applications, including but not limited to, applications to apply for ID, Centrelink and housing
Community Engagement
Represent CASA in the community, participating in outreach events and building relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community members
Mandatory Requirements:
Current Class C Drivers License
Blue Card Qld (Clearance to work with children)
NDIS Workers Screening Clearance Card
Desired Requirements:
Minimum 3 years' experience within the community services sector
Ability to work unsupervised, and safely, outside of CASA office hours
Demonstrated strong analytical and case management skills relating to assessment, intake, case planning, case reviews, co-service delivery and critical incident responses
Demonstrated ability to ensure self-compliance with organisational and funded bodies regulations, policies and procedures
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the capacity to use Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel and Outlook) and/or ability to learn and/or navigate the organisation's databases and funding bodies requirements
