Based in Alice Springs, this role will provide outreach midwifery care to women in remote Aboriginal communities in Central Australia.
Primary objective
Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client presentations, including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.
Context statement
The successful applicant will demonstrate a knowledge of best practice in clinical midwifery and Women's Health issues, particularly those affecting Aboriginal women living in remote area. Applicants must be self-directed and self-motivated to organise midwifery care as client load demands; be able to work with members of a multidisciplinary team and be engaged in developing a continuity of care program for women moving between remote and acute care services. The successful applicant will have a Vaccine Provider's certificate recognised by NT Health, experience driving a manual vehicle and eligibility to obtain an NT driver's licence, willing and able to travel to remote areas on a regular basis by road, light plane and to stay for up to a week as required.
