SERVICE DESCRIPTION Community Support Services support people in regional communities across Eastern Australia to live better lives through education, social and community participation, coaching and capacity building, service coordination and transport services.
We support parents, carers, families, children, people with disability, aged people, transport disadvantaged, and small regional communities.
POSITION DESCRIPTION Coordinators who work within our Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) programs support the delivery of outstanding education and care to school aged children in an inclusive and fun environment in which children are safe, engaged and well supervised.
Our Coordinators are highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic and creative and dedicated to providing children with the best possible childhood experience.
OSHC involves a combination of before and after school care, along with vacation care.
Before and after school care operates during school term between 7am to 9am and 3pm to 6pm, depending on the specific school.
Vacation care programs run during gazetted NSW school term breaks between 7am and 6pm and generally close for a two-week period over the Christmas break.
RELATIONSHIPS Reporting to the Head of Childhood Education and Development.Working closely with all educators, school representatives, students and their families.Building and maintaining relationships with all external stakeholders.MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Certificate III or higher in Early Childhood Education & Care.Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and willingness to undertake travel in accordance with responsibilities of the role.Current First Aid Certificate, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training.Current Statement of Attainment for the course 'Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk' CHCPRT0025 or working towards.Desirable Understanding of the National Quality Framework – My Place My Time, and its application with the service environment.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Ability to interact well with children and build positive relationships with families.Ability to work a rotating roster before and after school, during school holidays, during school development days, plus additional hours leading up to and after vacation care for set up and planning as required.Ability to demonstrate reliability, motivation, enthusiasm and commitment.Understanding of and commitment to Work Health & Safety and to ensuring a safe environment for children.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in the supervision of all children, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.Interact with children, assist in planning and implementing programs.Set up and clean away activities as required.If required, prepare food for children daily per health and nutrition policies.Develop the weekly education program of before after school and vacation care in consultation with other staff and the feedback from children, parents and the school community.Support inclusive practices to include children with additional needs alongside their peers.Supporting children to solve problems and play positively with their peers.Assisting children with their personal care needs as appropriate to their ability and level of development.Assist with the maintenance of accurate medical and attendance records to ensure timely reporting and effective emergency responses.Be aware of duty of care responsibilities and the safety of all children in the service's care, including people authorised to collect children.Work closely with, motivate and supervise staff members of OSHC on a day-to-day basis.Work together with the Head of Childhood Education and Development regarding planning and rostering.Responsible reporting to the Inclusion Support Team, for relevant funding to accommodate children with special needs.Keeping the room and play areas clean and hygienic and carrying out tasks to do so as required by the school.Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development, ensuring knowledge and skills are up to date with current practices and trends within the sector.Ensure mandatory and appropriate qualifications for the position are maintained.Other duties as consistent with the position where required and/or requested by the Head of Childhood Education and Development.RISK Staff are required to be aware of LiveBetter's risk and opportunity management principles and contribute towards building a strong risk management culture.

Advise LiveBetter in writing of any conditions which may impact ability to carry out the responsibilities required of the role.
Staff are also expected to assist LiveBetter in our commitment to being a Child Safe Organisation.
NATIONAL POLICE CHECK AND WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK The position holder is required to pass and hold a current National Police Check and a Working with Children's Check (NSW/VIC) or Blue Card (QLD).
PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT The position holder is required to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening.
