Role Miners Rest Primary School operates an Outside School Hours Care program for primary school-aged children on campus from its approved premises in Dundas Street, Miners Rest.
The program operates Monday to Friday during term weeks from 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. A Holiday Program is also offered to families throughout January and all holiday periods during the year.
The Outside School Hours Care Coordinator is employed by the School and reports to the Principal and School Council.
The successful applicant will:
Understand how children develop and learn. Organise stimulating and engaging programs and activities. Implement and maintain the National Quality Standards throughout the Centre Possess a thorough understanding and demonstrated experience in implementing and developing high-quality practices and policies. Demonstrate high-quality management skills to coordinate all aspects of the program. Position requirements:
Formal qualifications in childcare or education Training in Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis Demonstrate skill and enjoyment in working with children and an excellent understanding of primary-aged children. Ability to form positive relationships with staff, students, and parents. A flair for organisational matters Ability to work within a team and embrace collaborative learning practices. Computer skills and, ideally, knowledge of the program's administrative software, Xplor. A commitment to personal and professional development . The direction, guidance, and support of the School Principal and Business Manager support this position.
Responsibilities The Outside School Hours Care Coordinator is responsible for:
Providing leadership for the program Management and rostering of staff within the program Plan and deliver a stimulating and diverse daily program, providing positive experiences and interactions for all children attending. Ensuring all activities and practices undertaken by the children and the staff comply with the school's rules. Ensuring compliance with all aspects of Quality Assurance and state licensing requirements Providing training and support for new Outside School Hours Care assistants Maintaining accurate records of student and staff attendance at the program Liaising with the school staff to ensure smooth delivery of the program. Supervising food distribution during the program In liaison with the Principal and Business Manager, plan and order any equipment purchases that may be necessary for delivering the program. Providing accurate and complete records of attendance, monies spent, and any incidents occurring during the program, as required. Demonstrating full awareness of work health and safety issues and procedures, complying with these, and taking responsibility for one¿s own health and safety. Taking a lead role in promoting and supporting student, staff, and visitor safety and well-being, anticipating and responding accordingly to potential threats Being familiar with emergency procedures and ready to implement them if necessary. The school was established in the mid-19 th Century and is set in a growth corridor of the Ballarat region.
