The Opportunity
Pinsent Masons, a multi-national law firm, prioritizes clear communication with clients through its Out-Law team. This global team of qualified journalists captures and presents the legal insights of senior lawyers in articles for clients and interested parties. This role is vital for maintaining and developing the firm's market-leading content operation, keeping Pinsent Masons prominent with clients and prospects.
The Out-Law Journalist will produce a steady stream of APAC-related news, analysis, and guides for the Out-Law section of PinsentMasons.com. Responsibilities include creating original content from internal ideas and proactively generating news articles on key topics for APAC clients.
The role is based in Melbourne, Australia yet works closely with colleagues around the Asia-Pacific region, and more broadly, around the world with communications being in English. Occasional travel may be required.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Sourcing and delivering original Out-Law content (news, analysis and guides) for publication
Liaising with internal spokespeople for comments (specifically lawyers)
Driving our 'plain English' approach to communicating to our clients
Working closely with the Out-Law Editor and ensuring editorial activity is aligned to the firm's broader content, editorial and commercial strategies
Monitoring/assessing performance of content over time, ensuring content remains relevant, or is archived or deleted in a timely fashion
Optimising all content for SEO purposes
Supporting the firm's approach to e-mail marketing
Collaborating with firm's Public Relations, APAC Communications and BD teams in maintaining a strong presence across social media channels.
About you:
Digital publishing experience, working in a fast-paced, publishing environment e.g., national news outlet or trade magazine
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Fast, accurate writing skills with an eye for detail
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
A flair for absorbing complex legal ideas and presenting them in digestible forms
Good time management and organisational skills with proven initiative skills
Digital skills including use of content management systems (ideally Sitecore)
