We are looking for an OSS Solution Architect to take business requirements and develop a comprehensive systems, information, and integration architecture across our network Operational Support Systems (OSS). This includes orchestration and automation of network infrastructure and service provisioning, configuration management, network monitoring and analytics, and CMDB.This role will work as part of a broader team, including Business Analyst, Network Architects, Software and Integration Engineers to collaboratively develop OSS technology strategy, roadmap, architecture and system designs.As this role will require effective communication across a broad range of technical and business areas, the successful candidate will have experience in a wide range of products, platforms, vendors, and common architectures, as well as strong interpersonal skills.Candidates will need to understand the importance of AARNet business needs and concerns, whilst understanding potential constraints in resourcing that may require working toward 'best fit' and balance in our organisation to addressing concerns and meeting requirements and lowering technical debt.Some travel within Australia may be required.Responsibilities

Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders, fostering understanding and alignment.Leadership and Mentoring: Provide co-ordination and technical leadership, help train and uplift AARNet technical staff on new technologies.Expertise, experience & qualifications

Educational background and certifications:A degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or a related field, or relevant industry experience.Certifications in relevant technologies and frameworks (e.g. ITIL, TM Forum, TOGAF) are desirable.Technical knowledge:Understanding of telecommunications networks (including DWDM, IP/MPLS), services, systems, and protocols.Proven experience with orchestration and automation tools and technologies.Experience with Cisco NSO (Network Services Orchestrator) is desirable.Experience with network inventory tools, DCIM, IPAM as source of truth is desirable.In-depth knowledge of network monitoring and management systems.Experience with Configuration Management Databases (CMDB) and related processes.Programming and development understanding:Familiarity with programming languages used in automation, including Python, Rust andor Go.Experience with containerised application stacks, such as Kubernetes.Use of REST APIs and API gateways, including Boomi.Familiarity with various database technologies and their integration into architectural designs.Experience in deploying and or operating cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their services.Demonstratable experience in designing, securing, and implementing large scale solutions.Methodologies and Frameworks:Expertise in system architecture, design patterns, and best practices.Familiarity with working in an Agile or Scrum framework.Understanding of security principles and practices.Understanding how ITIL and TM Form processes relate to OSS architectureOther:Australian Resident.Valid Australian Driver's License.Important skills
