From birth to senior years, Vision Australia is there to provide a lifetime of support.About the OpportunityAs our client-focused Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will work within a transdisciplinary team to enhance the mobility of our blind or low vision clients to live life on their terms. You will achieve this by utilising knowledge and skills to provide assessment, training, intervention, and service co-ordination. In this role will work closely and long term with our clients to:Assess the ability of our Blind or Low vision clients to travel safely and confidently within area of the community they wish to access.Advise on and prescribe a range of mobility aids and provide specialist services to meet individual needs.Assist our clients to confidently and comfortably utilise other strategies including mobility aids and Seeing Eye Dogs to enhance everyday lives.Actively and proactively monitor and advise on the use of low vision aids as applicable to a mobility program to assist in the further development of blind and low vision aids.As part of the Client Services team, you should have approved qualifications in O&M as recognised by Orientation and Mobility Association Australasia (OMAA). In addition, knowledge and skills in working with children, adults and older adults is encouraged.
