The roleWe are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity at our ALS Environmental site. We are currently seeking an experienced Organic Chemist to join our dedicated Organics team.
Based at Wangara, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality results on time while striving to exceed expectations.
This full-time position encompasses a range of key responsibilities, including:
Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality Procedures ManualSupervision and training of laboratory staffPrioritizing daily workloadsOperation and maintenance of instrumentationReporting of results in accordance with Quality Work InstructionsEnsuring compliance with the laboratory's QC and HSE requirementsPreparing standards for sample analysisMaintaining relevant documentationThe essentialsBachelor of Science or equivalent (Honours and Chemistry disciplines advantageous but all sciences backgrounds are encouraged to apply)At least 2 years' experience in a commercial laboratoryPrevious experience operating with GC/FID, GCMS or LCMSMS would be advantageousAvailable to work Monday to Friday on either day or afternoon shifts, with the flexibility to occasionally work on Saturdays as required.Understanding of sample preparation for organics analysis for soil and water matrices highly regardedCompetent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)A working knowledge of organic sample preparation techniques for Environmental samples. PFAS experience would be highly regarded.Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a teamInterest in method development, verification, and validationA working knowledge of lab safety requirementsAbility to work under pressure in a team environmentA keen interest in organic chemistry and associated analysisWorking at ALSOur people drive our success at ALS.

EligibilityTo be eligible to work at ALS you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.
