The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity for an Optimisation Specialist to join our Networks team in Thomastown VIC, Eagle Farm QLD or Kidman Park SA, on Secondment or contract until April 2026.
Reporting to the Manager Workforce Optimisation and Performance, this role is responsible for analysing, improving, and optimising Work Schedules, Operational Processes and Asset Performance to enhance productivity, reduce costs and support reliable service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Efficiency - Identify inefficiencies in Work Schedules and Operational Processes, implementing agreed solutions that improve safety, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.
Data Analysis - Analyse operational data from a range of sources, e.g., planned schedules, completion work records, etc., using Maximo and Salesforce Field Service to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
Workforce and Schedule Optimisation - Working with stakeholders review the optimisation of work schedules and agree initiatives to improve the management of field service teams and the efficiency of overall work performance.
Performance Tracking - Establish new and review existing key performance indicators (KPIs) using Maximo and Salesforce Field Service related to work scheduling and operational efficiency and monitor outputs, reporting findings to stakeholders as agreed.
Process Improvement - Lead process improvement initiatives to implement new opportunities and build on existing processes to enhance safety, improve service reliability and enrich the customer experience.
Optimisation - Understand the proper combination and weighting of scheduling objectives and rules required to enable the scheduling engine to achieve the optimisation required to meet business objectives.
Your background
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or related field or relevant experience in this area is favourable.
Advanced skills and considerable experience in one or more of the major programming languages, and in the evaluation of equipment and software options.
Good understanding of the current IT systems environment and development paths.
Project planning and specification skills, together with problem-solving and analysis.
Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

Networks manages and operates transmission pipelines and local distribution networks that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.
This is an exciting time for the Networks team, we are growing and expanding with many new projects, including 2032 Olympics. Also, we have a strong culture of continuous improvement and working towards Net Zero with the introduction of renewable green gas into the Gas Networks.
