We are seeking an Operations Officer (Traffic Systems) who will ensure regional and affiliated local government traffic management systems are providing optimum performance in a complex and ever-changing environment. The role will provide technical expertise for Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) and directly oversee its operation to deliver efficient traffic flow on state and local government road networks.

You will work as part of the team specialising in configuring and optimising statewide arterial corridors and motorway corridors in South East Queensland. The team provides real-time network optimisation support, analyse localised network performance, and addresses network efficiency inquiries, including traffic signals and coordination.
As part of your role, you will be responsible for investigating, analysing, and reviewing traffic operations related to traffic signal and freeway management systems. Additionally, you'll develop, implement, test, and maintain traffic management plans and data for traffic controllers and STREAMS area management systems.
Communication is key, as you'll need to convey information verbally and in writing to stakeholders regarding traffic operations. This includes preparing technical reports and responding to public inquiries or ministerial correspondence.
You'll also liaise with operations in associated jurisdictions, such as the Police and Local Governments, to coordinate and address traffic operational issues.
Providing training and support to traffic systems operators or other staff will be essential to ensure effective system operations. Lastly, maintaining records, databases, and analysing system performance will be part of your responsibilities.

• Computer literacy - computer literacy is required with prior experience in Microsoft Excel, Tableau and mapping programs such as Google Earth.
Knowledge of traffic data analysis and traffic signal optimisation and smarter motorways program is desirable.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Current holder of Class C driver's license.
• The role requires availability to undertake some on-call work and scheduled overtime.
