Operations Manager - North Region
Cairns, Mackay, Townsville

We are looking for a dynamic all round Operations Manager with strong leadership skills including about 5 years management experience.

There will be travel required between all 3 locations - Cairns, Mackay and Townsville but the successful candidate can be based in any of the 3 locations.

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of excellent practice and the efficient management of delegated programs, specifically non-family based residential care services.
This role operates highly autonomously and is expected to be the key decision maker for their area/programs and must ensure strong relationships with all senior stakeholders, presenting as a proactive and positive ambassador for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

- Proactively lead and motivate staff to continuously improve their performance and development, service delivery, operational efficiencies, and partnerships.

- Manage all aspects of service delivery within the area to the Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF) Standards.

- Maintain adherence to all requirements and objectives listed in service agreements and contracts.

- Work with Finance to set, implement and review budgets, ensuring that all programs' budgets are adhered to, and best value principles of expenditure are maintained.

- Work with Shared Services to ensure all programs and employees are adequately resourced to fulfil their roles effectively.

- Initiate and develop strong purposeful collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders including (but not limited to); government departments, local elected members, NGOs and the private sector.

- Actively innovate, improve practice methodology, internal processes, and systems of undertaking business within the organisation.

- Assist in strategic planning and identifying growth opportunities (including grants and tenders) and assist in their implementation.

- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of administrative duties such as progress reports, finance documentation and business case submissions in line with legislative, procedural and contractual requirements.

- Maintain a strong knowledge of and adhere to organisations' practice frameworks, values, policies and procedures and relevant legislation.

- Take part in the on-call duty roster and complete other duties as directed.



About YOU

You will need to have:

- a tertiary qualification - ideally a Bach in Human Services
- experience within Child protection
- Strong leadership skills including at least 5 years management experience
- Reslient approach to problem solving

- Be confident in your own strengths and skillset
- Solid understanding of out of home care sector
- Strong ability to have those tough work related conversations
- Experience with change management
