The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) provides management of the medical workforce at all levels and to provide a central monitoring and resource in that regard for all clinical services. These interactions begin at the point of recruitment and continue at varying levels across the spectrum of operational issues in the management of medical staff.
The medical workforce itself is a dynamic workforce numbering in excess of 2,000 doctors and including doctors at all stages of career development.
In addition to providing organisational and business support functions, the MWU also oversees day to day management of the pre-vocational DiT workforce in its entirety at Austin Health and across the various aligned services, including rural rotations.
About the role To work collaboratively and cooperatively within the Medical Workforce to deliver a customer-focused service to JMS and internal and external stakeholders.To uphold the customer service culture and philosophy of teamwork within the Medical Workforce.To work collaboratively with Medical Workforce colleagues to cover during periods of leave and high-volume workloads.Management of Rotational 52-week planner and rosters.Initiating and performing regular roster reviews/redesign in conjunction with the coordinators and clinical units to ensure service demands are met.Workforce Planning, leave management, and overseeing cover where appropriate and effective.Attendance at Junior Medical Advisory Forum regarding roster updates and distribution.Overseeing and assisting with the fortnightly preparation and submission of the timesheets and payroll information for all JMS under Medical Workforce Jurisdiction.Assisting with, delegating, and being an escalation point for payroll queries where required.Ensuring that there is financial responsibility and accountability across the operational functions of the coordinators and positions role.Providing guidance and expertise in relation to award and fair work interpretations/rulings.Performing project work, alongside Director as required, to assist with the development of structures, programs, and strategies with the goal of improving JMS employee life cycle and the overall effectiveness of the service.Assisting external clinical units with roster development and costings for JMS.Developing ongoing relationships and maintaining effective communications with key stakeholders, including HOU, DPEs and medical staff and other business partners.About you As the Operations Lead, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in leadership and teamwork.
