Business Unit Overview Our Operations unit is the engine room of Superloop, responsible for maintaining and supporting all of our products and internal technical infrastructure to ensure the best possible service to both our customers and our very own business. Our Operations unit ensures that the business has the technical capability and capacity to deliver services to all Superloop customers ranging from Home Broadband to International Wholesale.
Role Purpose The role of the Operations Engineer provides engineering engagement to network systems, infrastructure, and escalated assistance for the Smart Communities project and support teams.
Key Responsibilities Act as an escalation engineering point for the escalated support team, project delivery, and field services teams.Liaise with customers, suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of faults and enquiries.Configure and maintain wireless environments.Maintain and support WAPs and other layer 2 network infrastructure.Configure, maintain, and develop Linux-based network monitoring hardware.Configure, maintain, and support software-defined configurations for network appliances, hardware, and container management (such as Docker/Kubernetes).Assist as a liaison between Engineering and Development teams.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.Assist with new or migrate existing services onto newly installed infrastructure.Take ownership and complete allocated tasks/projects/activities to agreed timelines or client SLAs.Participate in the 24x7 on-call roster system (if required).Respond to "P1" outages as an escalation point (when required).Conduct proactive maintenance activities.Document and maintain network infrastructure and configuration.Maintain optimal network performance through continuous monitoring, reporting, and diagnostics.Willing to undertake lab testing, fault finding, and streamlining of network systems, technology, and hardware.Work independently with setting and achieving suitable goals aligned with the role.Ensure compliance with laws and Superloop policies and procedures, including but not limited to privacy and WH&S.Ability to work without supervision, individually and in a team environment.Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.Qualifications and Experience All-round general experience in networking or IT-related role.Sound knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 networks.Sound understanding of Ethernet switching technologies.Sound understanding of IP routing and forwarding.Sound understanding of wireless technologies, radio frequencies, and coverage zones.Strong customer service ethic.Familiar with VM Technologies (such as OpenStack, Proxmox, or VMware).Familiar with Linux Server Administration and management.Familiar with Microservice architecture and containers.Familiar with container management (such as Docker, Kubernetes (Kubespray), Amazon Web Services).Familiar with database technologies (such as MSSQL, MongoDB, and/or PostgreSQL).Driver's license and ability to travel.Ability to travel internationally with a valid passport.Ability to obtain working with children check and/or Blue Card.Ability to obtain a successful police check suitable for working in areas of Education, Defence, Government, Large Enterprise, and Residential settings.Ability to meet WH&S requirements as stipulated by the organisation or our customers - such as vaccinations, white card, or other reasonable licenses.Desirable - Degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience to the same level.Desirable - Experience in maintaining large-scale Wi-Fi and FTTP, FTTB, and fibre technologies.Desirable - Experience working with Ekahau suite to design and survey wireless networks.Desirable - Industry certifications or experience relating to switching, routing, and wireless technologies (such as Aruba/Ruckus/Juniper/Cisco).Time management and the ability to organise resources and meet deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to people in a range of positions.Key Deliverables Take initiative to bring project ideas to the team for the overall improvement of the network.Ensure that all escalations are acknowledged and dealt with as per OLA timeframes.Maintain networking and operational standards across all internal systems and documentation.Incident management, manage outages, communications, and events as per SLA.Maintain a reasonable level of responsiveness across all SLC communication mediums.Promote and participate in a learning environment to encourage up-skilling across the Engineering and support teams. #J-18808-Ljbffr
