This job offer is not available in your country.Operational Technical Officer12 Month Maximum TermFull Time / South Metro Depot (Forrestdale)As the Operational Technical Officer, you will be required to perform specialist complex technical tasks on Western Power's network and provide construction and maintenance technical support and advice relating to the distribution network by investigating, evaluating, reporting, and providing recommendations in relation to new technologies, plant and equipment, training, and works practices.This includes accountability to coordinate external training and deliver local training to meet operational requirements as well as manage the field resource tools and equipment within their allocated budgets in an efficient and timely manner.This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway.Spanning across 120,000 square meters, the depot empowers all employees to create that perfect work-life balance whilst operating in an inclusive and diverse workplace.Your Role in ActionIdentify new technologies, plant, equipment, training, and works practices improving operational ability to be safe, reliable, and affordable.Facilitate ongoing skill maintenance and development to the Operational Workforce through the provision of training courses / programs and competency-based assessments to meet Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and the set competency standard.The flexibility of local trainer will enable training to be undertaken improving utilisation efficiency.Identifying, evaluating, and implementing opportunities for improving processes, work instructions, systems, and outputs through continuous improvement and standardisation across operational areas.What Makes You a Great FitCurrent trade qualifications - current Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Distribution Cable Jointing and / or Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Distribution Overhead or Electrical Workers Licence.Preferably at least 6+ years specialist technical experience in networks construction, maintenance, and operations field practices and procedures.Application of trade and post-trade skills and competencies to suit local business requirements.Knowledge of engineering / design standards, regulations, and procedures applicable to the area.Sound communications skills, both written and verbal that enable effective interaction between key stakeholders.Specialist technical experience and demonstrated knowledge in distribution network investigating, evaluating, and reporting.Willingness to work and travel to other depot locations, as required.Proficiency in use of key computer business systems, and competency in all the major business and office software.By joining Western Power, you will contribute to powering a cleaner energy future.
