About the roleThe Animal Attendant provides operational support to the educational programs within the Veterinary and Applied Science Centre Business Unit.
To be successful you will need:
Demonstrated ability to maintain animal facilities and apply large and small animal husbandry practice to a variety of animal species.
Ability to organise information, equipment and learning materials with an animal facility focus to meet the demands of clients and colleagues.
Must be physically able to perform the manual handling tasks required of this position.
Understand and follow workplace safety initiatives, identify hazards and contribute to a safe working environment specific to an animal husbandry facility.
Experience in the direction and supervision of small groups in an animal husbandry environment.
Availability for out-of-hours and weekend work.
Experience with laboratory animals, domestic animals, native fauna species or livestock is an advantage.
Current driver's licence.
Post-secondary qualification in the animal sciences areas.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed.
Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
