About Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority responsible to the Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water.
GAWB's purpose is to supply water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Those consumers comprise major industries, power generating organisations, and the Gladstone Regional Council.
GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from a major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage reservoirs and water treatment plants and takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs.
About the role Awoonga Dam serves as the primary water source for supplying major industrial and most domestic customers in the Gladstone region. As part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring reliable water supply, GAWB is currently developing the 117-kilometer Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline (FGP). This critical infrastructure project will transport water from the Lower Fitzroy River in Rockhampton, connecting to GAWB's existing water network at Yarwun.
The Operational Readiness Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that GAWB's water networks, treatment processes and staff are equipped to handle the introduction of the FGP and maintain efficient, reliable service to our customers.
Additionally, the Operational Readiness Manager will need to manage various critical operational readiness activities, including leading operational readiness projects, commissioning plans and providing expert operational readiness advice and guidelines to stakeholders to ensure requirements are known, managed and coordinated to support the introduction of the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline.
About you Most importantly for this role will be your experience in leading significant commissioning and operational readiness activities for relevant infrastructure.
You will have proven experience in driving program activity and engaging with relevant internal and external stakeholders to reach critical milestones. This includes technical definitions, design, operator acceptance, training and facilitating exercises to ensure appropriate parties are prepared accordingly to operate and maintain the new assets.
Possessing typical project management / commissioning experience, you will be adept at budgeting, communicating and maintaining relationships with leaders and individuals at all levels of the organisation, reporting and leading teams both directly and indirectly.
Ideally you will possess a Bachelor of Engineering and RPEQ status, however GAWB will consider applicants with qualifications in Project Management or Business who have significant relevant industry experience. As such, you must have strong knowledge of Australian industry water standards and guidelines.
