As an Operational Desk Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting traders with all administrative tasks and projects pertaining to the daily trading function. You will act as a liaison between desk traders and other dealers, traders, or brokers when it comes to executing orders per the request of traders. Traders will depend on your assistance for maintaining trade positions, profit, and loss (P&L) reports, and information exchange. This role will give you the opportunity to enter the dynamic environment of trading with a team of knowledgeable professionals. The role requires an understanding of financial instruments, especially equities, futures, and equity derivatives, as the successful candidate will be working with experienced traders in the financial sector. Knowing how to work directly with traders and having good working relationships is essential. What you'll do Compile/reconcile trade, transaction, and positions. Prepare and submit delivery instructions for proprietary trading. Assist with maintaining position, P&L and information exchange. Maintain and manage operational processes as per regulatory framework to ensure exchange compliance. Use algorithmic trading tools under instruction from traders. Update and manage all exchange trading systems, proprietary trading applications, and Excel spreadsheets. Act as liaison between desk traders and other dealers, traders, or brokers and all internal departments. Run appropriate desk projects and initiatives. Committed to innovation with a strong interest in learning and working with new technologies. Continuous improvement of the capability of the Front Office team and applications (through technology, automation, and other means). What we're looking for Demonstrable experience in the financial markets arena and completion of finance/investment related coursework is preferred. In-depth knowledge of options, equity, and equity derivatives. Worked with Bloomberg and proficient in Excel. Ability to build strong and positive relationships across all stakeholders and support the trading floor as needed. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Ability to promote new ideas and solutions. Confidence to escalate issues and be proactive to drive changes. Works well with an established team and can build strong relationships with team members. Maintaining strong organizational skills and meticulous record-keeping as well as fostering efficiency and accuracy to complete tasks and follow processes. Ability to prioritize based on materiality and risk considerations. Ability to learn and adapt to new software and systems. Analytical mindset when tackling issues. Detail-oriented; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-moving, highly intellectual environment. Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, and resourceful in solving problems. Reliable and flexible team player with a positive demeanor. Working knowledge of VBA, Python, and SQL will be highly regarded.
