We are seeking a Lead Technical Safety Engineer to join our INPEX Process Safety team in Perth on a permanent contract.
The primary objectives of this role are the co-ordination, planning and delivery of all aspects of Technical Safety required to support ongoing operation of the Ichthys onshore assets. The position holds the Technical Authority Level 2 role for Technical Safety.
Responsibilities include preparation and delivery of Ichthys LNG Safety Cases and Pipeline Management Plan revisions/updates for submission to the NT WorkSafe and the NT Pipeline Regulator. 
Key responsibilities include: Co-ordinate onshore technical safety team resources to deliver required support required for ongoing operations. Maintain resource planning tool to identify periods of resource shortfalls and co-ordinate with the wider Technical Safety/HSE teams to optimize use of available resources across Inpex Australia. Provide qualitative and quantitative safety engineering advice to operations line management with respect to operational risk assessment (SCE degradation, MoCs etc), HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, fire and explosion hazards analysis, EERA, ESSA, QRA, bowtie development, identification of safety critical elements and associated performance standards, ALARP demonstration and ongoing MAE risk management. Assure the quality of these deliverables. Ongoing assurance of the effectiveness of safety critical hardware within the safety engineering disciplines remit e.g. fire water system, clean agent extinguishing systems, passive fire protection and emergency response systems. Provide safety engineering expertise and support to other discipline engineers with respect to design and performance requirements for safety critical elements/equipment within their remit. As a Technical Authority Level 2 provide subject matter expertise and guidance on Technical Safety issues as per the manual of Technical Authorities. Maintain plans for the preparation and regulatory submission of all onshore safety case and pipeline management plan revisions and updates. Monitor, report and actively manage safety case updates and associated independent validation requirements. Develop and agree corrective action plans as required to ensure delivery schedules are met. Provide technical advice with respect to strategies for regulatory engagement. Support Inpex's process safety related relationship with the onshore safety regulators. Provide Technical Safety support to the onshore elements of Operations projects, Phase 2 projects, CCS developments and future developments as required. Successful candidates will have: Tertiary qualifications and/or professional registration in a relevant engineering discipline, e.g. Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (essential). Extensive experience within technical safety and risk engineering, loss prevention and asset protection programs. Supervision of third-party service providers. Upstream and downstream processing technologies. Australian Safety Case regime (ideally onshore). Leadership of operational risk assessments, HAZIDs, HAZOP/LOPA, formal safety assessments, quantitative risk assessments. What We Offer: Emphasis on personal growth and development opportunities.
