The On Country Coordinator will work closely with the Caring for Country Team and employees of Jagun Alliance Aboriginal Corporation to plan and implement a range of grant funded and fee for service projects. This role is expected to be in the field with the ranger team at least 50% of the time.
The role will include coordinating the work planning of Rangers, Team Leader Rangers, and Senior Rangers. Duties also include liaising with stakeholders, providing mentoring, professional supervision and individualised training plans for Rangers, and overseeing the implementation of policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety. The On Country Coordinator will coordinate cultural land management activities, including cultural burning, bush regeneration, cultural site protection, river restoration and monitoring.
This is a targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Position. Preference will be given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In the event there are no suitable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates, further applications will be considered.
Interviews will be conducted by end of year with a start date of end of January/start of February 2025.
Key Responsibilities Assist in the planning and implementation of projects in close consultation with the Caring for Country Lead.Undertake work planning and supervision of Ranger team members.Coordinate the planning and implementation of other projects and grant opportunities, including landholder and other stakeholder liaison.Coordinate the procurement and maintenance of small plant and equipment, including PPE and uniforms in close consultation with the Caring for Country Lead.Provide supervision for complex and/or higher risk activities including fire and on water activities.Develop burn plans, risk assessments and property plans in consultation with Caring for Country Lead and key advisors.Assist in the review and implementation of policies and procedures for Jagun Alliance to ensure the safe and successful delivery of project activities.Coordinate and undertake inductions for all new ranger team staff.Coordinate the planning of a work program for Rangers.Work alongside relevant project staff to assist in the event management of workshops and field days.Coordinate the delivery of fee for service opportunities to support the future growth of Jagun Alliance in consultation with the Caring for Country Lead.Assist in identifying and developing further funding opportunities to support Jagun Alliance.Experience coordinating projects for not-for-profit organisations and/or government.Demonstrated experience leading and supervising teams in cultural land management activities including cultural burning.Proven experience in successfully delivering caring for country projects with Aboriginal communities and organisations.Experience in administrative tasks including daily work reports, risk assessments and/or job safety analysis.Current drivers' licence and the ability to drive 4WD vehicles.Ability to carry out land management work throughout the region including the use of chainsaws, fire units, tools and equipment. This will require a reasonable level of fitness and willingness to stay overnight in remote locations on occasion. #J-18808-Ljbffr
