This position qualifies for the NSW Health Rural Incentive scheme with a value of up to $10,000 Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the southern half of NSW. What you'll be doingThe Community Mental Health Clinician provides recovery focused clinical services including assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison and review as part of a multidisciplinary team for older people who are referred to the service with a mental illness, mental disorder or moderate-severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
Selection Criteria Tertiary Qualifications and current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist OR Tertiary qualifications for Social Worker, Counsellor or Welfare Officer with eligibility for membership for relevant professional association.Demonstrated experience in the provision of contemporary Older Persons Mental Health practice including conducting mental health assessments, and the provision of evidence based interventions for older people who are experiencing mental illness or presenting with moderate to severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007).Understanding of the concept and principles of mental health rehabilitation and recovery and demonstrated experience and skills using a collaborative, strengths based approach to the care of mental health consumers.Demonstrated high level communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and other stakeholders, and a demonstrated high level proficiency in computer literacy.Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances.Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific DiseasesThis is a Category 'A' position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
