Job Summary: The individual selected for this position will work closely with the customer to address complex scientific problems related to a variety of areas such as physics, chemistry, and the atmospheric sciences. The candidate should have the ability to perform independent research and develop the proper approach/solution to related scientific problems.
Responsibilities: Must be able to create modeling tools and modify existing tools using common programming languages. Develop and interpret scientific codes and algorithms. Conduct research on forces, structures and phenomena. Evaluate experiment results and perform quality control tests. Develop and analyze the results of models. Data analysis and interpretation. Report generation. Requirements: Must be a US citizen. Must have a Top-Secret or higher security clearance. Must have a PhD degree in Physics and fifteen (15) or more years of relevant experience with a proven record of research in their field of expertise. Expertise in Physics related disciplines such as Astrophysics, nuclear and electromagnetic theory, and hydrodynamics. Proficient in creating tools in common programming languages. Knowledge of engineering science and technology. Experience working with the National Labs. Expert-level knowledge of Optical Modeling and associated phenomenology. Familiar with EMP scaling laws. Expert knowledge of nuclear modeling codes such as HYCHEM and RADFLO. Expert knowledge of optical and EMP modeling. Analytical thinking skills. Good writing skills, as there will be a requirement to write reports. Degree of judgment and multi-tasking associated with performing job duties. Good interpersonal skills. Effective communicator. Works well independently or as part of a team. Successful background and drug screening check. Preferred Requirements: HPC processing relevant to GPU, Parallel, or Tensor design. Familiar with Astrophysics, nuclear physics, electromagnetic theory, and hydrodynamics. Finite Volume and/or Finite Difference Time Domain expertise.
