The Data Availability and Transparency Act 2022 establishes a new, best practice scheme for sharing Australian Government data – the DATA Scheme. The DATA Scheme is underpinned by strong safeguards and consistent, efficient processes. It is focused on increasing the availability and use of Australian Government data to deliver government services that are simple, effective and respectful, inform better government policies and programs, and support world-leading research and development.
The National Data Commissioner is the regulator of the DATA Scheme and provides advice and guidance about its operation. The National Data Commissioner also delivers education and support for best practice data handling and sharing.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Office of the National Data Commissioner (ONDC) is seeking candidates for an exciting opportunity to join the ONDC. The ONDC is responsible for implementing the DATA Scheme. We are seeking candidates with skills and experience across a range of areas, including: regulatory environments; compliance and accreditation; and generalist policy officers. We have vacancies in two streams:

The compliance, regulation, education and policy stream is central to the National Data Commissioner's advice and guidance function. Your role will be pivotal in fostering partnerships within and outside of government, and building understanding of the operation of the DATA Scheme.
Accreditation
Accreditation serves as a gateway into the DATA Scheme, ensuring eligible entities are capable of handling public sector data and minimising risk of unauthorized access or use. The Accreditation section is responsible for assessing applications from participating entities against expected characteristics including the entity's data management and governance policies and practices.
