About the Ngaanyatjarra CouncilWelcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity:As the Officer – Procurement, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient procurement and management of materials for Ngaanyatjarra Construction and Maintenance Service. This position is pivotal in overseeing the end-to-end process of material supply, from initial order to on-site delivery.
You will be responsible for coordinating and managing the logistics of materials required for various construction projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Your role will involve using advanced software systems such as Simpro and Filemaker to track inventory, process purchase orders, and maintain optimal stock levels.In this role, you will work closely with the construction team to align material delivery schedules with project timelines and resolve any logistical issues that may arise. You will also liaise with suppliers to manage delivery expectations and explore alternative sources to ensure the best outcomes for our projects.
Your attention to detail, organisational skills, and proactive approach will be essential in maintaining smooth operations and supporting the successful completion of construction projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of our material procurement and logistics operations, making a significant impact on the success of our construction and maintenance activities.
Requirements:We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join us as an Officer – Procurement. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in procurement and logistics, with proven experience in managing inventory and coordinating material deliveries efficiently. You will be proficient in using software such as Simpro and Filemaker, along with a strong command of Microsoft Suite. You will also be required to travel to the lands as part of this role.
Manage the purchasing process, from vendor selection to order placement.Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions.Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely replenishment.Oversee logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, and warehousing.Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and logistics partners.Analyze purchasing and logistics data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations.If you are passionate about logistics and procurement, and have a keen eye for detail, this role provides a rewarding opportunity to be at the heart of our operations.
