About the role Red Cross works alongside communities as they strengthen their disaster resilience, assisting individuals and communities before, during and after an event, to cope with and manage the psychosocial impacts of emergencies.
In this role you will contribute to our strategic impact of supporting communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.
The focus of the role may be across one or more areas of emergency services work: Operations - provides support to ensure Red Cross operational processes, procedures, and practices required in emergency response are appropriate, documented and implemented.
Projects - provides operational support for the consistent roll out and delivery of projects, primarily focused on the planning, design, development and overall project coordination of key Emergency Services quality and continuous improvement priorities.
Volunteer management and support - provides leadership for Volunteers through engagement, capacity building, coaching, advocacy and provision of advice, and support Volunteers to deliver services that help people before, during and after disasters.
Community work - uses a community development approach to build local partnerships, facilitate, and strengthen relationships between emergency services agencies, government, service providers and organisations and communities to support the delivery of programs and projects that build community resilience.
What you will bring Relevant four-year degree with one-year relevant experience or three year degree with two years of relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience.
Experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver outputs within specified time frames, including comprehensive project management skills that encompass planning, coordination, financial oversight, and successful execution of projects from inception to completion.
Strong ability to set priorities, plan, and organize work effectively—both independently and for other staff and/or volunteers as required—while demonstrating exceptional attention to detail in all tasks and processes.
Demonstrated technical expertise in managing projects, overseeing volunteer teams, or developing community resilience programs, with a focus on planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
Proven ability to apply this knowledge in real-world settings, ensuring successful outcomes.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate, and solve problems, while working autonomously with a high degree of responsibility and accountability for decisions and outcomes.
A Working with Children Check is a mandatory requirement of this role.
