As the Director of Strategic Communications, you will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team responsible for developing and implementing integrated communication, media, and stakeholder engagement strategies that promote the Office of Industrial Relations' (OIR) vision and key priorities.
Your leadership will play a pivotal role in ensuring that OIR's goals are communicated effectively, both internally and externally, and you will be instrumental in shaping the organisation's reputation and profile.
About the Role: In this senior role, you will provide expert communication advice to the Minister's office, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, the Executive Leadership Team, senior management, and other key stakeholders.
You will also oversee strategic corporate communication, media and issues management, and stakeholder relations.
Your role is both strategic and operational, requiring you to blend high-level strategic planning with hands-on implementation and guidance.

Key Responsibilities Include: Leadership and Strategy: Lead and manage a high-performing team to develop and deliver innovative and effective communication, media, and digital strategies that align with OIR's strategic priorities and business needs.
Your work will support both OIR and the Queensland Government's overarching goals.
Program Strategy and Innovation: Guide your team in creating proactive communication solutions to ensure OIR remains at the forefront of best practice in media and public relations.
This includes digital engagement strategies and strengthening internal and external communication.
Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage with key stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and commitment to program activities.
Your ability to build strong business partnerships with senior executives and managers will be crucial to achieving business goals.
Governance and Risk Management: Ensure the team operates under sound governance practices.
You will oversee the monitoring of team outputs and the evaluation of communication campaigns, ensuring compliance with risk management protocols.
Media and Issues Management: Play a senior role in managing media and reputational risks that may affect OIR.
Your expertise in issues management will help safeguard the organisation's profile while promoting key initiatives.
Team Leadership and Development: Foster a positive and innovative team culture, ensuring that the team consistently meets its goals.
You will be responsible for talent development within the team and will lead performance monitoring and governance.
Budget Management: You will be responsible for overseeing the communication budget for the entire agency.
