Desired Skills and Experience About Student Placements Odyssey NSW offers two rounds of student intake at the beginning of the year and then mid-year. We are now accepting applications for Round 1 - 2025.
Odyssey has had a wide array of students in the past including Certificate 4 students, students undertaking diplomas, undergraduate degrees, and Master degrees in areas such as mental health, community services, AOD, social work, psychology, counselling, and more.
Successful student applicants in the past have possessed a strong interest in AOD or related fields, are people-focused, demonstrate strong emotional resilience, and are collaborative with a willingness to learn through critical self-reflection. All students must have a criminal check, a working with children check, and full COVID-19 vaccination. All educational institutes must supply key documentation including insurance coverage. Student placements are unpaid and usually part-time.
In turn, Odyssey supervisors have supported students through coaching around emerging skills and knowledge in the AOD field such as group facilitation and group program delivery as well as 1:1, working in a team environment to deliver coordinated support. Learning occurs often through observation, mock situations, coaching, and supported self-reflection.
