Overview As an HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will provide strategic HR support to business leaders in the R&D team while also operating as a hands-on generalist. You will work closely with leaders and employees to develop and implement HR strategies that drive engagement, performance, and retention. You'll also collaborate with the People Operations and Talent Attraction teams to deliver impactful HR solutions that align with our overall business goals.
This HR Business Partner role specifically supports our R&D team across the ANZ region, which includes Product, Engineering, and Design functions.
What you'll do: Strategic Partnership: Partnering with senior R&D leaders to provide HR insights and solutions that address business challenges. HR Programs and Initiatives: Developing and implementing HR programs focused on employee development, retention, and leadership capabilities. Data-Driven Insights: Using data to inform HR decisions and provide actionable insights to leaders. Talent Management: Collaborating with the Talent Attraction team to identify, attract, and retain top talent within the R&D team. Performance Management: Strengthening the performance management cycle to ensure clarity and success across teams. Coaching and Employee Relations: Coaching and consulting R&D leaders on all people-related matters. Change Management: Support change initiatives that align with Octopus's growth goals, ensuring they are implemented effectively with change management principles to facilitate smooth transitions. Collaboration: Collaborate with the broader People Team, including People Operations and Talent Attraction, to ensure seamless HR support. What you'll bring: Business Acumen: A solid understanding of Octopus's products, financials, and strategy, especially within the R&D context. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals. Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine approach to building authentic relationships with leaders and employees in Product, Engineering, and Design. Communication: Excellent communication skills, able to present data and insights clearly and concisely. Change Management: Expertise in driving and managing change initiatives. Talent Management: Experience in talent acquisition, development, and retention. Data Analysis: Ability to analyze HR data and use insights to inform decisions and strategy. Problem Solving: Creative and analytical approach to solving complex HR challenges. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with other HR professionals and teams. Generalist HR Projects: Experience in compensation, benefits, policy updates, compliance, and project management. This HRBP role is an exciting opportunity to: Provide sound HR advice, support and guidance to ELT & VPs in Octopus Deploy. Be a hands-on generalist across a range of HR disciplines & scalable work. Strengthen & implement People Strategies and initiatives that support our immense growth aspirations. Coach and consult with GEO managers and employees on all people-related cases. Focus on the most impactful work, all with a growth mindset to help Octopus Deploy scale. Amplify and scale our Centres of Excellence (i.e. Talent Acquisition, People Ops). Compensation: Level 3: Maturing: $120k AUD / $125k NZD, Performing: $140k AUD / $145k NZD
Level 4: Maturing: $150k AUD / $155k NZD, Performing: $170k AUD / $175k NZD

We will also take time to answer your questions. Step 3 (60m): Coffee chat interview with the business partners - the ELT who this HRBP will support. Step 4 (1hr 30m): A panel inviting candidates to prepare and present a 'case-study'. Final Interview: with the hiring manager. This is another chance to ask us questions that matter to you.
