The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003, as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision, and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.
The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital's catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services, in-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics, and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

Position: Occupational Therapy Assistant / Physiotherapist Assistant

Description: As a member of the Health Care Team, the Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA) works under the direct supervision of the Occupational Therapists and the Physiotherapist, conducting therapeutic programs to facilitate meeting defined treatment goals and completes tasks necessary for the maintenance of a safe and efficient treatment environment. The successful candidate will be available Monday to Friday from 0730 to 1530. This position is available immediately.
Responsibilities: Knowledge of anatomy, therapeutic modalities, and exercise programsTeaching and assisting patients with activities of daily living, exercise programs, and gait training as prescribed by the therapistsCarries out appropriate client transfers and demonstrates safe lifting techniques and proper body mechanics to patients and their caregivers as instructed by the therapistsPerforms cardiorespiratory treatmentsAssistance with splints and assistive devices, and teaching correct use of mobility aidsAssist with management of wheelchairs and cushionsInfection prevention and control and safety practices as evidenced by cleaning, disinfecting, maintenance, and safety checks of therapy equipmentDemonstrates ongoing professional developmentDocuments clearly, accurately, and in a timely mannerCompiles and maintains statisticsDemonstrates knowledge about caring for frail seniors and patient-centered care principlesActs as a preceptor for physiotherapy assistant studentsLead, support or participate in key activities or action plans as identified on applicable Operational PlansActive member of applicable team/unit/department meetings and huddles Qualifications: College Diploma - Physiotherapist Assistant Diploma AND College Diploma Occupational Therapist Assistant, or College Diploma – Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant6 months to 1-year previous related experienceHigh degree of physical effortAverage degree of mental effort and analysis Salary: $27.54 - $29.21 per hour
