Job Overview: As an NDIS Occupational Therapist at Happy Care, you'll be at the forefront of improving lives for Sydney's disabled community. You'll assess complex cases, design innovative home modifications, recommend suitable assistive technology, and develop personalised skill-building programs. Your expertise will directly impact clients' independence, safety, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct in-depth functional capacity evaluations using standard assessments (e.g., COPM, AMPS) to identify clients' specific challenges in activities of daily living, work, and leisure. Design customised home modification plans, including detailed CAD drawings and cost estimates, to enhance accessibility and safety for clients with complex mobility needs. Develop and implement sensory integration programs for clients with autism spectrum disorders, using specialised equipment like weighted vests and tactile stimulation tools. Assess and recommend assistive technology solutions, such as eye-gaze communication devices or smart home systems, tailoring them to each client's unique needs and abilities. Create and lead innovative community integration programs, such as grocery shopping skills groups or public transportation navigation workshops, to boost clients' independence and social participation. Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive 12-week intervention plans that align with clients' NDIS goals and funding allocations. Conduct detailed ergonomic assessments for clients returning to work, recommending workplace modifications and adaptive equipment to ensure successful job retention. Provide specialised hand therapy interventions, including custom splint fabrication and therapeutic exercise programs, for clients with upper limb injuries or conditions. Develop and implement cognitive rehabilitation programs for clients with acquired brain injuries, focusing on strategies to improve memory, attention, and executive functioning in daily life. Maintain meticulous documentation, including writing NDIS-compliant assessment reports, progress notes, and outcome measure tracking, using our health record system. Advocate for clients during NDIS plan reviews, presenting evidence-based rationales for ongoing or increased funding to support their therapy goals. Deliver tailored education sessions to families, caregivers, and support workers on topics such as safe manual handling techniques, implementing therapy strategies at home, and maximising the use of assistive devices. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities (NDIS experience preferred). In-depth knowledge of assistive technology and home modification principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and creativity in developing personalised interventions. Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with diverse clients. Proficiency in documentation and report writing for NDIS requirements. Why Join Happy Care? Be part of a dynamic team tackling Sydney's most challenging disability cases.
