Occupational Therapist - North Coast Region, Education Department of Education QLD – Wide Bay QLD
We are seeking applications from qualified or soon to be qualified occupational therapists to join our great multi-disciplinary team that provides services to children and students attending state schools in the Wide Bay area. You will provide occupational therapy support to school staff and students using a range of services such as staff training and collaboration, classroom strategies and individual student adjustments to enable occupational success in school life. Some travel would be a requirement of this position. This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis for a period of 12 months unless otherwise determined.

About the role: As the Occupational Therapist, you will:
Support children students to access and fully participate in learning and experience success and wellbeing across all stages of learning, in an inclusive education system supported by reasonable adjustments and teaching strategies tailored to meet their needs. Apply your professional skills and knowledge in contemporary occupational therapy and collaborate with education teams within schools to deliver high quality occupational therapy services which address barriers to student learning and enhance educational outcomes. Responsibilities include:
Support students to achieve their potential using evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy knowledge and frameworks to assist schools to identify and make reasonable adjustments and use inclusive teaching strategies. Collaborate and liaise with school leaders, teachers, other service providers, and the supervising occupational therapist to assess barriers to student learning and develop and implement occupational therapy services across schools. Participate as an active member in education teams within schools to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence-based contemporary occupational therapy services to enhance learning outcomes for students with disability. Use professional knowledge and skills to deliver occupational therapy services in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, professional standards and guidelines. Dedicated supervision and peer mentoring to assist with your professional support and ongoing development. Comprehensive department and discipline specific induction programs.
