With the ocean to the east and the escarpment to the west, there are also many benefits of living and working in the Illawarra. The contrast between mountains and beach gives the South Coast its own special charm. Life is lived at a slower pace, with mornings spent exploring cafes, eateries or food markets, and afternoons spent at the beach, on bushwalks or at one of many world-class wineries. Heading further south to the Shoalhaven, you're met with adventure and rich culture. The region is also home to some of Australia's most beautiful beaches, waterways and National Parks - with Jervis Bay and Kangaroo Valley only a short, 20-minute drive away – and is also host to many annual food and arts festivals and events. The people are friendly and welcoming, commute times are short, and Canberra and Sydney aren't far away.
