Northern Star Supports (NSS) is a new and expanding best practice early intervention National Disability Insurance Provider seeking to expand our team with an Early Supports Best Practice Occupational Therapist.NSS is seeking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and committed Occupational Therapist to join our transdisciplinary team of Therapists, Developmental Teacher, and Key Worker.The opportunity currently presents the opportunity for three days a week with the opportunity to increase hours for the right successful candidate.The successful candidate will be responsible for providing evidence based best practice service delivery to children with developmental delays, developmental concerns and disabilities in their natural setting e.g. schools, early childhood services, community locations, their home, and through a tele practice model. Working in partnership with families to support children to achieve positive outcomes, actively participant in everyday activities and be included and family and community life. As the successful candidate you will:As the Northern Star Support Occupational Therapy will demonstrate a strong alignment to the Early Intervention Best Practice guidelines, providing high quality service delivery to children, young people and families. The Occupational Therapist will work within a transdisciplinary key worker model to develop and support a holistic approach for the child, young person and family.The Occupational Therapist will work with other relevant disciplines such as Early Intervention Teacher, Speech Pathologist, Intervention Key Worker to coordinate consultative service delivery to support the child, young person and family.The Occupational Therapist will provide Occupational Therapy specific consultative support to children, young people and families with sensory, functional capacity, fine and or gross motor assessment, strategies and supports for daily living activities and functions, as well as equipment prescription to children, and or young people living with developmental concerns and or disability.Outcomes of the role:Provide early childhood intervention and evidence-based therapy to support children and their families to assist their development, well-being and to participate in meaningful activities and routines in the home, education settings and community.Enhance families and other key caregivers' capabilities to support their children through experiences and opportunities that strengthen knowledge and skills, and to promote the use of interest-based learning opportunities with children.Build strong, collaborative relationships with families and support informed decision making on interventions that fit into everyday routines and activities to help achieve family's prioritised goals. Requirements Outcomes of the role: Provide early childhood intervention and evidence-based therapy to support children and their families to assist their development, well-being and to participate in meaningful activities and routines in the home, education settings and community. Enhance families and other key caregivers' capabilities to support their children through experiences and opportunities that strengthen knowledge and skills, and to promote the use of interest-based learning opportunities with children. Build strong, collaborative relationships with families and support informed decision making on interventions that fit into everyday routines and activities to help achieve family's prioritised goals. Requirements for the role: • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with AHPRA. • Experience working with children including children living with developmental delay and/or disability. • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team, providing consultation to Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists and Early Childhood Teachers. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families and professional stakeholders. • Excellent time management and planning skills. • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience in implementing the National Guidelines for Best Practice in Early Childhood Intervention.
