About us
Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.
We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.
As an Occupational Therapist your responsibilities will include: · You will plan, assess, implement and evaluate clinical care in collaboration with patients/families and the multidisciplinary team so as to achieve identified goals and health outcomes.
· Contribute to the coordination of clinical care whilst working in partnership with the allied health team, nursing and non-clinical staff providing direct and indirect clinical input, direction and guidance
· Incorporate the provision of education and support to patients and their carer/family for the management of their health recovery, rehabilitation and discharge plans
· Conduct individual and group therapy programs
· Commit to an ongoing learning and professional development portfolio to ensure case mix requirements are supported and registration requirements are met. Essential Criteria: · Authority to Work in Australia
· Generalist acute clinical experience, including hospital-based rehabilitation with 2-5 years post-graduate experience
· Working with Children check
· Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
· Registration with AHPRA
· Clinical expertise and commitment to high quality patient care and continuous improvement
· Self-motivated and proven ability to work as part of a high functioning team
· Highly developed interpersonal skills, proactive, motivated and patient-focused
· Flexibility in managing a varied caseload and implementing group and individual programs
