The Occupational Therapist is an experienced clinician who applies specialised clinical expertise to the delivery of the NDIS.Key duties and responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive assessments, referral and discharge planning support for prisoners requiring referral to the NDIS and deliver disability focused evidenced based assessments for NDIS referrals, participate and formulate complex clinical plans.Contribute to efficient and effective operations by providing high level support and advice to the Principal Advisor Offender Services on key prisoner disability, health and forensic mental health related matters related to the NDIS.Provide professional/clinical supervision and training to other health professionals or operational and support staff.In conjunction with the Principal Advisor Offender Services, work across the Northern Territory to support the implementation of an enhanced NDIS program.Liaise with key departmental staff and external stakeholders, including senior officers of NT and Commonwealth Departments, relevant organisations and individuals on matters relating to disability, health, and forensic mental health.Maintain quality documentation of assessments and interventions implemented by the NDIS Program.Selection criteria:Essential:Degree in Occupational Therapy, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, including excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to provide professional judgement, clinical reasoning, and skills to the clinical management of prisoners requiring Occupational Therapy assessment, NDIS referral, and discharge planning.Extensive experience in the assessment and provision of high-quality occupational therapy interventions including experience providing culturally appropriate assessment in working with Aboriginal people.Demonstrated ability to participate and formulate complex clinical assessments and plans.Demonstrated experience in providing clinical oversight and supervision to multidisciplinary staff in developing complex management plans.Demonstrated working knowledge of evidenced based disability, health and mental health clinical and psychosocial interventions.Ability to identify and assess emerging organisational issues and their impacts relating to prisoner health and mental health.Desirable:Demonstrated sound understanding of, or experience working within, the criminal justice system.Further information:The Department of Corrections has a Smoke Free Policy, including e-cigarettes.
