Farm AssistantWe are looking for a skilled Farm Assistant to undertake various farm-related tasks. If you enjoy the dynamic nature of farm work and being part of a close-knit community, this opportunity is perfect for you.
The role is required to be performed predominantly during school term time only, 25 hours per week, Monday – Friday from 9.00 am - 2.00 pm, with the flexibility to work during school holidays as required.
The Farm Assistant will:
Look after farm animals and perform animal care tasks for cows, chickens, and lambs. Ensure they have food and water and are healthy. Prepare animals for tasks or shows. Assist with setting up and removing materials and equipment for Agriculture classes. Maintain animal enclosures. Help with breeding and birthing processes. Oversee crop planting, cultivation, and harvesting. Maintain farm equipment and infrastructure. Manage irrigation systems. Keep accurate records of animal health, crop yields, and equipment maintenance. Manage composting and farming supplies. Perform general farm upkeep, including mowing, spraying, repairing, and maintaining fences and gates. The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Previous experience in farming, agriculture, or animal husbandry. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring manual labor in various weather conditions. Willingness to learn and adapt to new farming techniques and technologies.
