THE JOB:
We are seeking a Technical Manager to be the head and drive business development. This role is to speak with our clients, lead our estimation department and implement actions and procedures to ensure a safe working environment with minimal impact on the environment and the provision of high quality, long lasting protective coatings for clients who are essential to the Australian economy.
Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Lead and manage the technical team responsible for our coatings division, industrial and engineering solutions. Ensure that all technical work meets industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients, internal teams, and other stakeholders. Stay updated with the latest technologies, methods, and trends in industrial coatings and mining services. Client Interaction & Relationship Management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and support with quotations and job aspects. Regularly speak with clients to understand their requirements, provide updates, and deliver technical presentations. Address any technical issues or concerns that may arise during project execution and work towards resolution. Manage and support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive quotes for projects. Ensure estimates reflect technical requirements, resources, and timeframes. Review and approve estimates before submission to clients. Ensure that projects remain within budget by managing costs effectively and identifying potential savings. Project Coordination & Execution: Collaborate with operation managers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects and that purchase orders are processed in a timely manner. Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring all technical aspects are accounted for. Oversee quality control measures to ensure project specifications are met throughout the project lifecycle. Team Development & Training: Manage and mentor a team of engineers and estimators. Identify training needs and provide technical training to improve the skills of team members. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration. Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Promote a strong safety culture within the technical and estimating teams. Monitor safety performance and implement corrective actions when necessary. Required Qualifications and Skills: Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor's degree in Protective Coatings / Mining or equivalent experience. Any NACE qualification is highly regarded. Strong understanding of industrial coatings, mining operations, and engineering solutions. Proven experience in project management, cost estimation, and client management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships. Ability to manage and motivate a technical team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the mining and industrial sectors. Proficient in relevant software (e.g., MS Office, project management tools, and estimating software).
