Scope of Task: The Database Administrator works alongside peers of differing specialisations in the Systems Team.
The role reports directly to the Deputy Director Simulation Systems on matters relating to administration of DTEN Windows and Linux services, and other duties as directed.
The Database Administrator is accountable to the Deputy Director Simulation Systems but will be utilised by other teams when required.
The Database Administrator attends diverse meetings, engages peer technical teams constructively and participates in exercise work routines.
The Database Administrator will conduct themselves in accordance with Department workplace standards at all times.

Performs work on department managed environments.
Complies with IT Service Management (ITSM) Policy.
Proactively uses ITSM toolsets and monitors the tools routinely responding to Ticketing & Scheduling priorities, annotates tickets with meaningful commentary, reassigns with approval.
Consults the DTEN knowledge repository to assist with tasking.
Works closely with other teams in the branch including Systems, Simulation, Networks and futures for which this position has ongoing responsibilities.
The Database Administrator also co-ordinates closely with all J76 and futures teams on troubleshooting activities.
Implements, manages, and maintains databases including but not limited to PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle and MariaDB.
Manages databases in accordance with RDBMS and other management systems when required to organise store and manage data.
Plans, develops, installs, troubleshoots, maintains and supports operating systems and associated server hardware, software and databases ensuring optimum system integrity, security, backup and performance.
Generates Configuration Management Database (CMDB) inputs.
Passes Systems Configuration Item (CI) state changes to the Configuration Manager and consults where definitions are ambiguous.
Applies ITIL Service Management principles and processes under direction.
Included in Change Advisory Boards (CAB), in addition to other processes observed by the organisation.
Routinely contributes content and technical designs in knowledge repositories and provides input to policy, process and procedures on request.
Participates in professional development.
Identifies opportunities aligned with objectives, provides supporting artefacts on request and negotiates work release with the Deputy Director Simulation Systems.
Handles Classified Document Registers and classified information in accordance with standing Instructions.
Is responsible for the protection of Commonwealth Intellectual Property and upholding international obligations for ITAR controlled software.
Specific Criteria:
8+ years' industry IT experience, military experience or combination of the two.
ITIL Service Framework certification.
SQL Basics in MySQL, SQL practice set in MySQL, MySQL for developers or any other relevant database certifications.
Alternatively, Tertiary Degree or Vocational qualifications in a closely related discipline.
Industry certifications in complementary technologies, including storage, Red Hat and VMWare are desirable.
An unrestricted ability to deploy to military installations in support of constructive training events.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical peers and frontline IT leadership.
Demonstrated ability to conduct his or herself in a manner reflective of values.
Security Prerequisite: It is a prerequisite that the Database Administrator hold an NV2 Security Clearance.
This requirement may be waived if the candidate holds NV1 and is deemed suitable to apply for NV2, as per AGSVA eligibility guidelines.
