Position title: Nurse Unit Manager – Gold Coast Department: Clinical Services Reports to: Director – Nursing & Operations Direct reports: Associate Nurse Unit Manager, Complex Case Management Nurse, Registered & Enrolled Nurses, Medical Administrative Assistant, Vasectomy Services Coordinator Hours per week: Full-time, 38 hours Duration: Permanent Position Purpose: The Nurse Unit Manager will provide strong clinical leadership, safe practice, and people management in the Gold Coast medical clinic and across telehealth services to ensure the delivery of high-quality client-centered care.
Key Accountabilities: Medical CentreThe Varsity Lakes-based clinic provides Medical Termination of Pregnancy, Contraception, and Vasectomy services.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations such as rostering, list management, financial planning, and budgets.Managing clinical risk and ensuring best practice solutions in line with policies and procedures.Lead the clinic to provide safe, high-quality client-centered care.Liaise with external clinics and medical practitioners to develop relationships with local health providers.Attaining and maintaining accreditation standards and regulatory compliance.Telehealth ServicesResponsibilities include:
Oversee pathways for 16+ week gestation clients to ensure safe delivery of service.Lead the Nurse Telephone Support Service.Lead Internal and External Vasectomy Pre-admission services and Result follow-up.Provide clinical escalation pathway for pre-care, pathology, and aftercare to procedural doctors.List Management of pre-admission lists including rostering, appointment slotting, and daily notes.Support the telehealth services expansion program.Additional Areas of Responsibility: Participate in working groups/committees and meetings to support clinical governance.Promote and participate in the continuous education of new and existing employees.Guide, support, and mentor staff performance.Investigate and manage incidents, feedback, and concerns promptly.Analyse and utilise client feedback to improve services.Key Selection Criteria: A Pro-choice advocate.Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration.Extensive management experience in a clinical setting.Sound knowledge of emerging digital health strategies.Knowledge of National Accreditation Standards and ACORN standards.Ability to manage budgets and staffing requirements.Experience achieving high clinical standards.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Leadership skills that promote a positive team culture.Active and reflective listening skills with an understanding of how to provide empathetic care.Experience in day surgery, recovery, and women's health (desirable).Leadership qualification (desirable).Family Planning Certificate or Midwifery qualification (desirable).Phlebotomy competency (desirable).Employment Requirement: AHPRA Registration.Provision of two professional referees.Be prepared to undergo a National Police Check.Be prepared to undergo an International Vetting Check.Evidence of current COVID-19 vaccinations.Evidence of current working rights in Australia.Position enquiries: For further information regarding this position, please contact: ****** Application Support: To apply for this role, please submit your CV and a brief covering letter addressing the key accountabilities.
