Join an expanding Health Service with a culture of collaboration, trust, respect and teamwork.Our workplace is fast paced, challenging and supportive, where every employee plays a critical role in our success.The Medical and Critical Care Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nurse Practitioner Candidate to join their team on a permanent basis.Your opportunityThe NPC Rapid Access Service for Medical Oncology is a new and exciting position that provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of an innovative model of care, delivering improved services within the Cancer Care Unit, Department of Medicine of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.The NP led Rapid Access Service for Medical Oncology provides advanced and extended clinical care to medical oncology patients of the MHHS.
This flexible service model seeks to engage patients via multiple modalities including face-to-face, telephone and telehealth to ensure timely access to care.
The NP and NPC will function as part of a multidisciplinary team including those within Qld Health & other government departments as well as non-government agencies.About the TeamThe Cancer Care Unit, Department of Medicine of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service is expanding to include a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) and Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) with the goal of facilitating rapid access to assessment and care for cancer patients.
Cancer Care patients may be reviewed within the Cancer Care Unit, Specialist Outpatients Department or via telehealth services to where possible prevent Emergency Department presentations and prevent hospital admission where practical.
The NPC will work as part of a broader multidisciplinary team to provide patient-focused goal-driven care.About our Hospital and Health ServiceMackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff.
