The Nurse Educator is an advanced practice Registered Nurse responsible for developing and assessing nursing education programs, managing resources, and fostering a culture of learning and inquiry.
The care provided to prisoners is supported by integrated referral systems that give priority to those most in need and address health inequalities. It includes identifying priorities for the promotion of healthy living; the prevention of disease, injury, and disability; treatment and care of the sick; management of chronic diseases; advocacy and rehabilitation.
Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) is responsible for delivering health services to prisoners in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC), Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF), and prisoner workcamps. COHS provides health services to a fluctuating population of approximately 1200 male prisoners within CCC and CCF. The needs of this client group vary widely, and COHS requires a flexible system that responds to urgent/non-urgent, complex, planned chronic care, and preventative health needs.
About the role:The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse who is accountable at an advanced practice level for the design, implementation, and assessment of nursing education programs, managing educational resources, and providing nursing expertise related to educational issues within CQHHS. The Nurse Educator leads and supports a culture of development and inquiry that actively encourages and facilitates clinical, professional, and organisational learning.
Support the delivery of clinical care to individuals/groups through direct and indirect practice, supervision, facilitation, and counsel.Apply educational leadership to build capacity and foster a culture of learning.Engage in development and application of education frameworks/models.About you:Mandatory qualification/s: Current registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). A relevant postgraduate diploma or Master's degree is an expectation of this position. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.
