RoleThe role of the nurse is to work independently providing first aid for students/staff with an illness or injury and ensuring DE procedures and processes are followed.
This position is also required to support the administration staff as directed with a responsibility to work co-operatively as part of the team, ensuring a productive and efficient workplace.
The working hours are 8.15am to 4pm, 2 days per week during the school term.
Days required are Monday and Friday. The role requires close interaction with a range of staff, students, and visitors to the school.
It is important that the successful applicant operates in a consistent, professional, courteous, and efficient manner at all times.
ResponsibilitiesAssess and administer first aid to students and staff.Order, store, monitor and administer medication and medical supplies in accordance with DE regulations.
Ensure supplies are well stocked and up to date at all times.Contact parents and emergency services as required.Liaise with parents, staff and members of the wider community regarding any problems/queries about student's medical conditions.Prepare and maintain excursion/camp first aid kits.First aid support offsite at sports carnivals.Maintain, enter and retrieve data from Cases21/Compass in relation to first aid.Ensure all students on special lists and in need of medication are up to date e.g.
anaphylaxis, diabetes.Ensure the health centre remains clean, tidy, and uncluttered at all times and is a safe and friendly environment for those in attendance.Coordinate the distribution of medical care forms/action plans as required, following up with parents to ensure they are completed.
Providing a summary of student medical care information for staff as required.School Vaccination admin and liaison with local council.Organise staff first aid training.Communicate with parents/guardians to ensure that student's medical information is correct and up to date.Attend relevant Professional Development as they arise.Maintain confidentiality at all times.Support the administration team as required.Other duties as directed by the Principal class.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
