Job Description:

Reporting to the National Head of Media and the National Director Corporate Affairs and Public Policy, the NSW Media Manager supports the execution of the organisation's media needs aligning with the St Vincent's 2030 Strategy. This involves:

Providing professional media support and advice to all St Vincent's senior leaders, services, and personnel in NSW;

Supporting the activities of the St Vincent's public affairs and communications team in NSW;

Providing counsel to St Vincent's leaders in NSW on media issues to help enhance the success of the organisation;

Operating at all times in a way that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of St Vincent's.

The successful applicant will be a key member of the St Vincent's team in NSW as well as the national Public Affairs and Communications team. You will collaborate with your fellow team members and colleagues to build on our vision of creating 'One St Vincent's' .

This position is Permanent Full-Time and predominantly based at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney (Darlinghurst).

Key responsibilities of the role:

Proactively identify and generate positive media coverage for St Vincent's in NSW, particularly coverage that supports and helps deliver on the organisation's strategic goals and builds connections with our stakeholders.

Prioritise, manage and respond to media inquiries related to St Vincent's, our services, and personnel in NSW to achieve a positive outcome.

Be an active and enthusiastic part of a multi-jurisdictional Public Affairs team that executes a media strategy for the entire St Vincent's organisation across assigned media markets.

Work successfully and collegiately with the broader St Vincent's media, communications, public affairs, and executive team on the media management of NSW-based critical issues.

Provide media advice to NSW-based St Vincent's CEOs and senior leaders.

Contribute to a 'storytelling' culture within St Vincent's, liaising with colleagues to ensure that any NSW media coverage is shared across relevant internal and external channels.

Provide media support for St Vincent's services in NSW.

Contribute to team responsibilities for media monitoring, tracking, and reporting on impact.

Create and maintain up-to-date contact lists for mainstream and specialist media in NSW.

Develop and maintain relationships with key reporters, newsrooms, and media outlets.

Support all other tasks as directed by the National Head of Media.

Essential qualifications:

Minimum 10 years working in busy media roles in large organisations in fast-paced, high pressure, and issues-rich environments.

Demonstrable track record of achievement in winning media coverage.

Demonstrable track record in successfully managing media around critical issues.

Experience liaising with and advising CEOs and other senior leaders on media issues and opportunities.

Experience distilling and simplifying complex stories and packaging them into engaging and successful media pitches.

Experience operating professionally and successfully across media and communications teams in large organisations with geographic spread.

Highly developed organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and expectations.

A positive, flexible, and collaborative working attitude.

Willingness to work after hours, on-call and weekend (roster system) on occasion.

Well-developed emotional intelligence, maturity, and resilient personality.

Desirable qualifications:

Experience in a similar role within health or a comparable sector.

Ability to gather, package and generate images/video to support the work of colleagues in digital content and social media roles.
